I don’t see in the style sheet a way to make the logo larger. I want to use a logo larger than 144×61. I’d like it to use most of the header space. Any ideas? Thank you!
To change the size of logo you need to a small change in code.
Open config_variables.php inside theme folder.
Search for these lines.
define( ‘HEADER_IMAGE_WIDTH’, 144);
define( ‘HEADER_IMAGE_HEIGHT’, 61);
Here you can define your own width and height and upload the new logo from the Admin Panel.
I use this theme for my blog. Is there way to change the top text area length? I edited the “Just another WordPress site” with my own text, but it would be great if I can make the text go across the header close to the logo instead of just in one corner.

I see there are 2 recent posts in my sidebar one with just default images & one with default images & titles – how can I delete the one with just the pictures? And is there a way to just set ONE default picture to replace the blue default ones? I didn’t set gallery images for all my posts – is this possible? Thanks
Yes both things can be done :-
(1) To replace default blue images, please go inside theme folder :- exact path is
utility -> design -> beta -> images -> default images
There you would found two images that you can replace with your ones.
(2) There is one admin panel of this theme “Utility Options”. From that panel you can remove any section.
how do I change the number of sub-category that looks at the parent category of the menu nav?
You can create menus and sub menus.

Actually there is no provision to add pages/items above the main menu. It will just show a “Home” link.

Hi, great theme, just wondered if you could help with this. We would like to remove the text and links in the top navigation bar which at present contains Categories which would leave just the Categories on the right sidebar.

For doing so, please open the header.php file that exists inside theme folder. On line no 51 you would find this line :-
wp_nav_menu( array( 'container' => '', 'theme_location' => 'header-menu', 'fallback_cb' => 'utility_custom_header_menu' ) );
Just remove the above line. I hope it will solve the issue.

Also I’ve noticed that the four most recent posts come up on the right hand side automatically (even though I try and put them in a different order). Also is there any way of just showing these without the details, just the titles.

Sidebar is divided into multiple sections
By default each section contains 5 latest Posts.
You can assign a category to each section from the admin panel.
Images whatever you are viewing on the site, are the images inserted in Posts.
To display only titles in the sidebar, you need to do edit one file
Please open
utility/modules/rhs_category_posts_title_excerpt_display.php and search this line
< ?php echo utility_trim_words(get_the_excerpt(),15); ?>
You need to remove the above mentioned line.

(1) What will come in the sidebar of home page or archive page or author page.
(2) What about rest of the Pages and Posts where you don’t want the sidebar.

There you would find one line written as
font-size: 16px;
Here you can change this font style.

Yes, you can definitely change, but you need to edit CSS.
First to change background of grey strip where Home link and Date are coming
Open style.css
Go to 222 line no
you would find
background:#4e4e4e;
Here you need to give your own color code.
Then for the second change you need to replace one image
Go to :-

Here you need to replace mentioned image with your own image of same size and name.

I don’t think it is a theme related issue. You can do 2 things
(1) Disable all plugins and check the theme.
(2) Activate some different theme and check that issue.
I think may be some plugin or some setting is creating the issue.

To remove default image just insert an image within the Post or insert featured image.
If you have multiple images within a Post, then it will show the first one.
I have installed utility 1.1.3, there is an image gallery at the sidebar but the size is as same which I post. I need to see small thumbnail there. how do I change it?

then on line no 36 and 38 you will get height and width in this form :
(utility_show_thumb(’301′, ’201′, ‘crosual_default-image.png’ ,’1′)
Here 301 is width and 201 is height. You can edit these values.

You can remove sections that are coming on RHS by using “Utility options” given in admin panel.
LOVE, absolutely LOVE this theme. Only problem is none of the alignment/word wrapping works, rendering this theme useless too me. All other themes that I have images aligned right in posts work. This one does NOT wrap text around images, or my adsense blocks

Thank you for the wonderful theme. I have read through the questions listed above and was surprised no one has asked about adding a footer section to the theme.
When I view the files listed in “editor” there is a footer.php. However, when viewing the utility theme settings only the header and sidebar settings appear. Is there a way to add a customer footer to this theme? I was looking to add widget to it if possible.

Hi Guys,
Can you tell me how to remove the Recent Posts from the sidebar. At present there are 5 varitions of them all appearing.
I have gone into Appearance/Utility Theme/Sidebar and unchecked all sidebars but the recent posts still appear. I have looked else where in the various admin sections and can’t seem to find any setting that is making this happen.
At this moment in time we only want the Categories to show.

I fixed the wrap on images, but still wonder if there is a way to do exerpts rather than full page posts.

‘ this text stops the search working and no meesage is displayed. Any ideas as to why this is happening. I changed the text to ‘Sorry, nothing matched your search’ does the punctuatuin marks make any difference although I have tried it without.

May be some Plugin is creating conflict. Try to deactivate your Plugins and check again.

I’m still on a localhost installation with wordpress version (3.3.2).
In fact, you are right it seems a conflict between plugins and Utility theme. I’ve already deactivate all plugins and the issue disappeared but I have a new one: the page “hangs” before loading!
When I click on a link in the page, it seems as if it was attached and released suddenly! it “gleams”!
To answer your questions:
1) my default themes is twenty eleven
2) no I don’t encounter the same problem when I switch to other themes
3) WP version (3.3.2, as mentionned above)
4) I’m using some plugins: super cache, reload table, contact form, custom meta, SI captcha anti-spam.
By the way, can I remove the Tag Cloud? and what is the best way to do so?
I have removed it by commenting the five last lines in the “sidebar.php”. Is this a good way or I should to remove it from the “module>rhs_tagcloud.php” ?
- Also, I’d like to remove or translate “posted on”, where I should look for it?
- Same thing for “author”; I’d like to remove it or translate it “by author”!
- Is there a simple way to hide/show date on a given post only? I mean to display or remove the date from one post and keep it on another? For example, on a static or welcome page?

You need to give widget name else it will add ‘TITLE’ itself.
I have to add that the theme cause Firefox to crash!

Great theme and I’m really trying to get this to work.
Having an issue with pages not showing up.

I’v created two pages, “Shipping Quote” and “Store”,
placed them in the menu bar and it doesn’t navigate to the pages.
It just reloads the same page.
I have also placed a pages widget on the right column listing these 2 pages.
They too refuse to load the pages when clicked on.
Everything seem stuck to the home page.
These links are valid links, so why don’t they load?
Also, though I’ve changed posts to be summarized in Settings->Reading, it still displays the entire post on the home page.
For now I’m using “insert more” command in post editor, but it’s tedious.

Got “store” to work by linking to an external site, but it’s not really what I wanted.

Deactivate your plugins and check again.
It looks like you have installed some URL related plugins. Try to deactivate them and check again.
It is not a theme related issue. You can check your site with default Twenty eleven Theme.

I deactivated all plugins.
I had the plugins:
Jetpack by WordPress.com and
Ecwid Shopping Cart installed.. both are deactivated.
Still didn’t work so I changed theme to 2011 and my “store” and “shipping quote” still doesn’t go to it’s proper page :/

Then problem is in your server.
Where your site is hosted. May be some module is missing on your server.
Using Hostgator.
Just uninstalled everything WP and all plugins from server then re-installed WP and just Utility.
It seems the blue bar on top “News, test 1 cat and test 2 cat” link to posts and not actually pages or user specified urls?
My custom menu shows up on the very bottom footer of the website.. thats what I want in the blue bar at the top of the site.. where news, cat 1 test and cat 2 test are now at.
If I can’t get those links into the blue bar, perhaps the grey bar at the very top of the site would work (although small)
I created 3 links/buttons for my cust menu “catalog” “shipping quote” and “misc link”, in that order.. “misc link” is nowhere to be found.

My post image is displaying in chrome/firefox. However, in explorer 8, it does note display. IE 8 has been installed for many months and has been working fine.
Bluehost says the issue would more likely be in the way that Blitzthemes gallery plugin/theme is coding the gallery.
Do you have a known fix? Or is there a different gallery plugin that may fix it as well?

As per me, problem must be in your images not in theme. I have seen this issue on other sites also.

On my old theme, they appeared perfectly, but in Utility, I am missing some columns. I can oly guess this is because of the available px for the text field
